About My Back is Sore and Other Stories
Oh hi. I’m Lou O’Reilly, and this is My Back is Sore and Other Stories - a newsletter for anyone who’s ever tried to fix their life with a new protein powder and a mildly unhinged Google search.
I work in PR and comms by day, but this is where I write the stuff that doesn’t fit into a client brief - bodies, health, fitness, food, politics, perimenopause, grief, joy, and all the other things that don’t come with a tidy content calendar.
This newsletter has had a few identities (shoutout to Sweaty Pals and Taking Out the Trash) but this version feels the most me. It’s less about industry takes, more about honest ones. Stuff I’m thinking about, feeling, questioning, or trying to laugh through.
What to expect:
Essays from me when I have something to say (and the executive function to say it)
The occasional guest post if a pal has something worth sharing
A tip jar at the bottom of each post if you want to throw me a coffee — no pressure
No regular schedule because… life
Thanks for reading. I hope something here feels like a deep stretch, a good rant, or a laugh you didn’t see coming.
If you’re somewhere in midlife, figuring things out again, craving honesty over hustle, and trying to feel good in a world that often feels bad… welcome. You’re my people.
Getting in touch
I’d love to hear from you. I’ve switched on the chat function for this page, which I’m not wholly sure about, but it’s there. You can also reach me easily via email at loudoreilly@gmail.com or by replying to an email from the newsletter in your inbox.
I’d love for you to stay as a subscriber, or sign up if you haven’t already. But please know, there’s absolutely no hard feelings if you signed up to a fitness and food newsy and this new mixed bag is not your jam.
I do hope you enjoy this new direction tho. Perhaps give it a try and see if it fits.
Lou xx
