I witnessed a friend go through this a year or so ago, and I had no idea before that of the huge changes required, and the ongoing learning and adjustment involved. Not easy at all! Good on you for doing what is right for your health, and for sharing your journey x
I've had a heap of friends go through this too, and I thought I was well prepared for the journey ahead. As it turns out, not so. Every day, something new to grapple with. But I am alive, but lung function is normal, my liver is working properly again - I'm grateful for what this surgery has given me and I do it again tomorrow if I had to.
Doing what you need to do for the sake of your health is never anything that you need to explain to others or apologise for. I know people who have done what you've done and I understand it's not as easy road. I applaud your strength and perserverance in getting to where you are today and I hope it becomes easier. Your background and experience will be invaluable to guiding others.
